These days everybody seems to be on a diet. There are literally hundreds of different diets promising amazing results. Many of these diets will produce some results but mostly the weight loss will be water weight or muscle loss, neither of which will help with long term weight management and overall health.

So how do you know if these weight loss plans are safe, sensible and will produce lasting results? Here are a few of the easiest ways to help you decide.

Rapid Weight Loss?: Any diet that promises weight loss in a few days is an obvious poor choice. Rapid weight loss is almost surely the result of the body eliminating water. When this occurs, you lose essential electrolytes that are vital to overall health.

Large Weight Loss?: Any diet that “guarantees” a large loss should be avoided. A reasonable weight loss plan should produce a weight loss of about two pounds per week. Otherwise, there will likely be a rebound effect where the dieter will gain the weight back (and probably more!)

Single Food Diet: ?Obviously eating a single food will never produce good health. While you might lose weight, it is due to calorie restriction. A single food can’t provide adequate vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants necessary for health.

List of “Good” and “Bad” Foods: ?We need a balance of fats, carbohydrate and protein. Diets that promote certain foods as good or bad are simply playing with this balance and reducing calories without you knowing it.

Any Diet that Sells a Product: ?A diet that requires you to purchase a pill, powder, drink or other chemical compound to lose weight is probably not your best choice unless you want to live on it for the rest of your life.

Remember, whenever anything seems to good to be true, it probably is. Devoting yourself to a lifestyle that includes exercise and eating a proper diet with moderate portions is still the best method to lose weight and to keep it off. You can maximize your success with support groups or “buddy dieting” and mental conditioning using techniques such as visualization and hypnosis.

Do you feel like you have been wandering aimlessly through life? Has it been difficult for you to set goals and to achieve them? Even if you have been moving off your desired course in the past, you can let today be the day that you pinpoint your goals and destinations. You can develop a plan of action that helps you to achieve your goals and to create your dream body and optimum health.

No matter where the road of life has taken you before, and no matter what your current age or physical condition, you can decide to reclaim your ability to thrive starting right now. You can get on board the motor coach to success and you can place yourself in the driver’s seat. Even if in the past you inadvertently let yourself move down the wrong roads, you can now steer yourself in the right direction.

Specialized hypnosis programs can help you to take control of your body, your actions, and your life. Hypnosis helps your subconscious prepare your body, mind, and spirit for the changes that will lead you to lasting success. Not only will hypnosis help you to formulate a plan to lose weight and to become fit—repeated use of hypnosis programs serves to keep you relaxed and happily motivated to stay on track. Once you decide to put yourself in the driver’s seat of your own success, you can let hypnosis work to keep you focused on your goals and committed to achieving weight loss, health, physical fitness, and happiness.

In a world where there are so many beverages choices, on the surface, water may seem like a dull choice. Expensive sports drinks, weight loss concoctions, and sparkling flavored sugar-free waters all get their share of attention while refreshing, pure water is frequently overlooked.

Even though there are many kinds of water substitutes, there really is no true substitute for water. Dollar for dollar and ounce for ounce, the benefits of drinking pure water will outplay and outlast any of its expensive counterparts. Water may seem ordinary, but its benefits and effects are extraordinary.

So how might you benefit from making water a integral part of your life?

1. Water helps cure many illnesses and makes you healthier.
2. Water nourishes your cells.
3. Water helps your body to rid itself of fat, waste products, and toxins.
4. Water increases athletic endurance.
5. Water improves the quality of your hair and makes it shinier.
6. Water improves the condition of your skin.
7. Water strengthens your fingernails, teeth, and bones.
8. Water reduces fluid retention.
9. Water aids in digestion.
10. Water lessens PMS.
11. Water quenches your thirst.
12. Water helps you to feel full and satisfied.

There are, of course, many, many more benefits, but if you are in the process of losing weight, it is likely that these benefits are the ones that will help you to make the right choice each time you open your refrigerator door or order a meal at a restaurant.

Water is readily available, delicious, and it goes well with everything. Simply put, water is the best weight loss, health, and beauty aid known to humanity. You can trust that as you drink plenty of water the results will show up not only on the scale but also in how great you look in the mirror.

Are you concerned about how your life will change once you create your dream body? It is very common for anyone undergoing the weight loss process to worry over how their lives will change once they lose weight. Concerns over change in appearance can stem from many different core issues. Concerns over how your life might change when you are at your ideal body weight are best addressed early in your weight loss process. As with all emotional issues, you will feel lighter when you face them and let them go. Carrying around needless worries will only weigh you down and can delay or even prevent you from succeeding.

Weight Loss group members have reported worry over how becoming physically fit and more attractive will impact their relationships, careers, and many other parts of their lives. Some feel a big change in their appearance might enhance their marriage and/or relationships, but others worry that this change could put their relationships in jeopardy.

Group members cited the following concerns regarding how their weight loss might effect their relationships:

1. Some worried that they would be more likely to cheat on their personal relationships once they became fit and felt more attractive.

2. Others felt that their own weight loss might hurt the feelings of an overweight spouse, family member, or friend.

3. Many expressed concern that their sudden unwillingness to engage in former ritualistic eating habits with spouses, family members, co-workers, and friends would cause friction.

4. Individuals who had experienced past sexual abuse, were concerned that losing excess weight might make them a target to abusers. For these individuals, it seems that they have actually attempted to “insulate” themselves from perceived threats to their safety.

No matter what reasons you have given yourself for overeating in the past, you can choose now to see that overeating never helped you to overcome any problem, to feel less depressed, to be safer, or to improve your relationships with others. All that overeating serves to do is to slow down your energy flow and to put you at risk of obesity and health issues.

Since we have all been inappropriately programmed to turn to food to quench emotional fires and to “make us feel better,” it might be helpful to realize that this unintentional programming worked like negative self-hypnosis. For many of us, it is helpful to dehypnotize ourselves from old thoughts and behaviors that have resulted in dysfunctional eating. Dehypnotizing begins when you are conscious of what you eat and fully aware of the true effects the food will have on your body, mind, and spirit. When you go through this process you automatically begin to take control of your eating.

Once you have dehypnotized yourself, it is much easier to lose weight. All the programs in my FIT FAST Weight Loss Program are designed to help you subtly dehypnotize yourself and to replace inappropriate eating with new, helpful thoughts and behaviors toward food helping you to create your dream body.

People often fail to understand how vital a part water plays in health, fitness, and as a tool in weight loss. Fewer still recognize that pure, natural water is the best of all beauty aids because of its positive effect on the condition of one’s skin, nails, and hair. While most athletes realize how integral a role water plays in athletic endurance, individuals new to exercise often fail to realize that drinking water prior to working out will dramatically boost your staying power and help you to build athletic endurance.

For those wanting to lose excess weight, it is important to know that water helps your body to ideally digest the food you eat. Water also helps your digestive system to eliminate waste products. As you lose weight, water helps your body to flush away fat, toxins, and chemicals. This contributes favorably to weight loss and also helps you to free your body of cellulite and other fat deposits.

There is no debating the fact that water also goes to work to lessen many ill health conditions such as Constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, PMS, Hypertension, and Chronic Headaches. It is also important to realize that the condition of all your organs, including your heart, lungs, liver, and kidneys are all healthiest and operate with the most ease when they are ideally hydrated with fresh pure water.

According to many well-known weight loss groups, eight-to-twelve, eight-ounce glasses of water a day greatly aids the weight loss effort. It is often recommended that people who want to lose up to 25 pounds should drink 8 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Those who want to lose over 25 pounds are encouraged to drink 12 8-ounce glasses of water per day. Those who endeavor to lose over 25 pounds are encouraged to drink more water because they have more fat and toxins to flush away than those losing less than 25 pounds.

Still not convinced that you should drink plenty of water? There is nothing that will be more convincing of the benefits of drinking water than of actually doing it for a month or more. When you see the numbers dropping at the scale from day-to-day and week-to-week, you will be glad that you decided to drink plenty of water. Once you realize that it is easier to exercise longer, you will begin to reach for your water bottle when working out. Perhaps most important of all, when you notice how bright your eyes look, how clear your skin becomes, and how shiny your hair and finger-nails become when you drink enough water, water will become a friend that you don’t leave home without.

As with many things in life, often people fail to take action to change their behavior until it is proven to them that another course of action will make a great difference. It is impossible for you to know just how much easier water will make it for you to lose weight, to feel healthier, to have more energy, and to look great until you do it for a period of time. The good news is that once you start drinking plenty of water, the benefits will show themselves to you quickly and very soon you will develop a true taste and desire for water.

Let yourself enjoy the benefits of water. You will be glad you did.

Dysfunctional behavior is any behavior that detracts from your emotional, physical, or spiritual well-being or that keeps you from achieving a goal. Conversely, functional behavior, is any behavior that helps you to be happy and healthy and that supports your life goals.

Dysfunctional eating is any kind of eating that detrimentally impacts your health, blocks your energy, or prevents you from achieving your ideal body weight. Functional eating is any kind of eating that helps you to feel healthy and energized and that helps you to achieve and remain at your ideal body weight.

Overweight people frequently engage in several different kinds of dysfunctional eating. To see if your eating is dysfunctional, make note of any of the following statements that describes your behavior pertaining to eating. Each of the common reasons cited for dysfunctional eating is followed by a short statement of fact designed to show that dysfunctional eating never really helps. Just the realization that some thoughts and behaviors are dysfunctional has been enough to help many people to make better choices. To determine if your eating is dysfunctional, you can ask yourself these 15 simple questions. Please make careful note of your responses.

____ 1. I overeat when I am tired.

Overeating never makes you less tired. It actually depletes your energy.

____ 2. I eat when I am sad.

Food is not an anti-depressant and it will never make your problems disappear. In fact, when you overeat because of sadness, it is likely that you will feel sadder after overeating.

____ 3. I eat when I am bored.

Overeating only temporarily fills the void of boredom.

____ 4. I eat when I am angry.

Overeating is no replacement for facing your emotions and productively dealing with your
life. Overeating never solves a problem—it only creates other problems.

____ 5. I eat when I don’t feel appreciated.

No one will ever be more kind to you just because you’ve overeaten.

____ 6. I eat to sabotage my own goals.

Have you examined why you are sabotaging your goals? Are the goals you have set for yourself in line with your highest good–or have you been talked into them? Do you know that you deserve success?

____ 7. I eat when I am fearful.

Eating excessively does not make you safer or less fearful.

____ 8. I eat when pressured to do so by others.

Just say “No, thanks.”

____ 9. I eat to forget about what is happening in my life.

Long after you are done eating, the issues in your life still remain. Overeating can make
your problems bigger and virtually never makes your problems go away.

____ 10. I eat without thinking of the ramifications.

Stop and breathe. Ask yourself if the extra calories and other effects of the food
are worth the ramifications.

____ 11. I eat just because food is present.

Do your best to keep temptation out of your path.

____ 12. I eat because I am drunk/stoned.

Excessive drinking and using drugs are but two more dysfunctional behaviors. Just say, “No.”

____ 13. I eat because I am stressed out.

High calorie, high fat, and sugary foods actually cause stress in your body. The best way to release stress is to exercise, meditate, use self-hypnosis, have fun, and to engage in other appropriate stress coping mechanisms.

____ 14. I eat because of cravings.

Overeating causes more cravings. When you eat the correct amount of nutritious food and drink plenty of water you will find that cravings disappear.

____ 15. I eat to feel comforted.

Any emotional comfort you get from overeating is short-lived and is almost always followed by regret.

If you are like many overweight people, it is possible that you have checked all the statements above as reasons that you sometimes overeat. It may even be that you could add several more reasons for eating dysfunctionally to this list.

Many of us, have very private reasons for sometimes behaving or eating dysfunctionally. You will find that honest self-discovery will help you to take actions to change any dysfunctional eating and behaviors into functional eating and behaviors. When I was designing Fit Fast Weight Loss with my partner, Kevin Reynolds, we knew it was important to include many programs designed to prompt self-discovery that would lead to easy behavior modification. Hypnosis can help you in many ways to understand what makes you tick and what makes you eat. No matter what might be “eating you.” you can decide to give yourself the gift of change.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could lose weight while we sleep? Imagine just climbing into bed, closing your eyes, and the pounds just magically melt off. Well that actually does happen. Dr. Walter Moraes of Universidad Federal Sao Paolo, Brazil, presented the findings from a study he recently conducted which demonstrated that people lose weight three times as fast while asleep than while simply lying in bed.

Dr. Moraes found that the average weight loss during sleep was 1.9 gram/minute (3/4lb per hour), but only 0.6 gram/minute while lying in bed awake. It seems counter intuitive that while sleeping, where we seem to be doing less than at any other point in our waking lives, we could lose weight. Dr. Morales offered an explanation that the brain, which comprises only 2% of the body’s weight, is responsible for 20% of the body’s total energy consumption.

We know that in rapid eye sleep (REM), in which we spend roughly 25% of our total sleep time, the brain’s metabolic rate (the rate at which it consumes energy) is very high, even more than while awake. Although a person’s body temperature drops while sleeping, during REM it increases, and this too may cause increased caloric expenditure (as one person discussing this study commented, “it’s like a furnace switching on and off during the night”).

So how can we spend more time in the REM state? A simple solution is to use hypnosis. Hypnosis is essentially the artificial manipulation of the REM state. In fact, REM fluttering is one of the methods that hypnotists use to determine whether a subject is hypnotized. It is in this state that the subject is susceptible to hypnotic suggestions. Using hypnosis to assist a subject with entering the REM state (and getting a natural weight loss boost), the hypnotist implants positive hypnotic suggestions that continue to effect behavior changes long after the session ends. So if you are ready to lose weight and get more sleep consider investing in a good hypnosis weight loss program. You will utilize your body’s own natural weight burning system AND turbo charge your weight loss.

In the many years I’ve spent presenting weight loss programs, I’ve always found self-discovery to be an important part of the weight loss process. Self-discovery has been shown to be key in helping clients to overcome dysfunctional eating and other dysfunctional behaviors. Just the realization that some of your thoughts and behaviors may be dysfunctional, can help you to make better choices.

In the years of collecting information, comments, and data from our programs’ participants, the most common reasons cited for overeating include feeling: tired; sad; hurt; angry; unappreciated; anxious, and stressed out. Weight loss clients also reported that they were most likely to overeat in the following circumstances: when pressured by others; when “trigger” food was available; when drunk or stoned; and when unprepared to eat healthy.

It is important to note that virtually all people who underwent Hypnosis Weight Loss Programs came to realize that one dysfunctional behavior often led to another. For example, if someone slipped up in the morning and ate a donut at break-time, that same person was more likely to overeat at lunch. A person overeating at lunch, was more likely to skip the gym or to go out for drinks after work than to exercise or to enjoy a healthy dinner.

Fortunately, the opposite was reported to be overwhelmingly true. Clients who took the time daily to listen to a Hypnosis CD, Affirmations CD, or Subliminal CD, before bedtime or early in the morning, were far more likely to make good food choices that led to more helpful behavior and food choices throughout the day. It was reported over and over that daily use of Hypnosis CD’s helped clients to wake up feeling rested and in control.

The old saying: “Success breeds success,” is very true in your efforts to lose excess weight. You will quickly find that by starting the day off on the right foot, it will be easier to maintain a healthy course throughout your day.

Since sadness, anger, fear, stress, fatigue, and other detrimental emotions can negatively impact your good intentions, it’s important to deal with your emotions head-on, so that they do not weigh you down. Hypnosis helps you to peacefully face your emotions, to experience self-discovery and release detrimental emotions. As you let yourself put down any heavy emotional burdens, you will find that your mind is clearer and you have more energy. With a clear mind and an energized body, it becomes easy to make healthy choices, to enjoy exercise, to sleep soundly, and to get Fit Fast.

Have you decided to create your dream body and optimum health? If so, you will find it beneficial to take time to set up an Official Start Date for your weight loss effort. Pick a Start Date that is favorable and as free as conflicts as possible. For example, it could be bad to select a start date right before a holiday or vacation. Once you set a Start Date, your mind, body, and actions begin the process of helpfully preparing you for change. This planning and preparation play important roles in your success.

Each day before your official Start Date, you can give yourself helpful affirmations before you go to sleep at night and before you get out of bed in the morning. By reading or reciting helpful affirmations to yourself right before you go to sleep and right after you awaken, the affirmations work like powerful self-hypnosis suggestions. If you write your own affirmations, make sure that they are worded positively. By doing this you’ll be ready to start to lose lose weight and create the body you’ve always dreamed of.

If dieting was an effective long term strategy to lose weight, people would be able to use one diet and lose all the weight they wanted. Simple, move on. So why is it that that people often jump from diet to diet? Do diets actually work?

In fact, there is evidence that dieting can actually be harmful. Most people who go on diets seem to put the weight back on once they stop. The sad news is that they usually put on a few more pounds than they started with, compounding the original problem. The April issue of American Psychologist reports on a university study conducted by Traci Mann, PhD. Dr. Mann, associate professor of psychology at UCLA, analyzed a group of dieters who had dieted and lost weight over the last year. Dr. Mann was interested in the percentage of dieters who, over time, gain back more weight than they lose.

The study reports that “We found that the average percentage of people who gained back more weight than they lost on diets was 41%.” Dr. Mann also stated that “This is actually bleaker than it seems, even though most people would find that 41% number to be pretty depressing. We have strong reasons to feel that this number under represents the true number of participants who gained back more weight than they lost.”

So why is it that don’t diets work? Some researchers suggest that the biological and hormonal changes associated with dieting prompt the body to perceive a threat to survival in the lack of food intake. A natural, instinctual mechanism kicks in and we over eat again. In the UCLA study, Dr. Mann suggests is that it’s just plain hard for people to change their eating behavior. It requires constant vigilance and motivation and, over time, determination falters. Essentially we slip back to the same behaviors that caused the weight problem in the first place.

To effectively lose weight and keep it off, it is necessary to change the behaviors that lead to the weight gain in the first place. Use of a good hypnosis weight loss program can assist you with changing unwanted behaviors. When you use hypnosis for weight loss, it is easy to make subconscious shifts in the way you act and think about food. Repeated use of the hypnosis programs reinforces healthier eating behavior. There is no struggle, no boot camp discipline, just results!
